Hi everyone, I did it

Well, I am so new to this cross stitch scene. I have finally tried something little. Nothing like the beautiful work I have seen here but none the less I have done something.
I made a little design in 2 sizes.  One in 18 count and the other might be 14 but I'm not too sure.
I can't believe everyone else's beautiful work in such a finer count of canvas.. They are all so inspiring.
Anyway here is what I have done..... It has taken me quite a while...

Welcome to the world of cross stitching! It does take a little longer than other crafts such as knitting or crochet where you can make an entire garment in a couple of evenings. It's worth it though.
These Santas are so cute. Remember that 18 count aida is the equivalent to 36 count even weave so if you can manage that then you'll be fine on the higher counts.

This little Santa is great, and you even stitched him twice. Beautifully finished, both ornaments.

Well done! They look wonderful - and you did TWO! How I recognize that panicky feeling of "OMG now I have to FINISH this somehow and make it into something that looks ok-what if I ruin it all?!"
Hopefully this SAL will give us (ie ME!) some much needed practise and ideas and also some confidence when it comes to our finishing skills:))

They're both beautiful!

You've stitched them both beautifully and those are great ways to finish them. Good luck finding your next patterns.

They're so beautiful, Jo! I love how you finished them! Oh, it amazes me how fine the weave is on some stitcher's pieces! I'm mostly an Aida girl, too, usually 14-18 count, but I have just started stitching on 28 count evenweave. My eyes can't see anything smaller. You're doing so well as a beginner stitcher!

Fantastic finishes! Well done :o)
Welcome to the very addictive world of cross stitching! While it might take a bit of time to do and sometimes you feel that you are making no progress at all... it is well and truly worth all the time and effort when you see your finished piece!!
Can't wait to see more soon!
Hugs xx
