Sept: Joy and Peace

Hi Everyone, This is my first post on this site, but I have enjoyed watching all the finishes. This month my ornament is stitched thought not finished yet. This ornament is by Little House Needleworks.

What next? Angel or Nativity, undecided at the moment.
Until next time,
Gwen

Finally finished

I managed to get September's offering finished today.
The only thing I had left to do was put the cord on the edge. I really enjoy making my own cord rather than using ready made, as I can;t usually find the colour I need.
I was going to put a bell in the corner where the cords meet, but when I opened the bell container it only had silver and I wanted gold. So I'll have to pop out and stock up at the weekend.

I'm all sorted and ready to start October's Orni tomorrow.
Can't wait to see what everyone else chooses to stitch

Kate's Christmas Tree

I've been a little absent from blog world lately; our house has been the infirmary for awhile. All four of us have been sick at least once in the last six weeks. I love everyone's ornaments this month! I squeezed out a mini finish a couple of days ago.
It's one of the Prairie Schooler Mini Cards, but I'm not sure which year. I know I had the chart two days ago, and now I can't find it. Anyway, it was a lot of fun to stitch but took a lot longer than I thought it would.
Thanks for reading and looking.
Happy Stitching!
Kate

Cathy's September Ornament

Here it is the last day of the month and I'm finally posting my September ornament.  I chose another Mill Hill kit called Golden Tannenbaum that I had in my stash.

The hanger on this one is made from leftover gold beads.

Metallic Christmas Tree ornament!

Hello Xmas SALers!

I finally managed to finish my September ornament in the nick of time!

I used a chart designed by Maria Diaz from a freebie leaflet from The World of Cross Stitching issue 183. Despite my initial troubles finding a suitable chart for September, I am very pleased with the way this ornament turned out in the end:)

The leaflet actually has a design of an angel too...maybe I'll stitch that one for October...??

No tree for me

Too many things going on this month! I've been working on my tree but it won't be done for Sept. Now to decide which angel to do for Oct. I will finish my tree soon. Everyone's ornaments look great.

A Present and a Tree

Well, I managed to finish two ornaments this month - much to my delight. Here's a "present" ornament, a freebie from Lynn B at Happiness is Cross Stitching:

And here's a tree ornament - kind of out of the ordinary....from Just Cross Stitch Magazine - 2013 Christmas Ornaments edition. The design is by Sue Hillis Designs, Inc.

Now, on to October!!

stitched trees

Despite not having much time this month, I managed to get two trees completed but not finished off.  I will admit that one tree was nearly done but not quite.  I'm thinking the smaller one (with beads) would make a great stand-up or flat fold.  The taller one (buttons), I was thinking of a wall hanging but now I see it stitched, I'm not sure.   Suggestions are welcome.

Now to figure out what to do for October.

My Lizzie Kate Christmas Project.

I just love the saying in this Lizzie Kate Christmas design.

So I just had to stitch it for this month's SAL theme. Here is my progress so far. I was late getting it started. Pay no mind to my Halloween needle minder. I may not make it by Wednesday but oh well, I least I got it started!

Happy Saturday Everyone!

September II

Rita's September

I went back to Prairie Schooler for my September ornament choice.  This is from Book 198 Christmas Tree Farm.  When our kids were young, we used to take them to a Christmas tree farm and cut down our own tree.  Great memories!

I have an idea of how I want to "ornimentify" this one but thought I'd post this picture first.

September I.

Although I am not yet at the finish, but I want to share with my xxxx Christmas tree:

I believe that by the end of the month could make it :-)
I greet you all and wish you much joy with embroidery!

Feelin' Festive....

Hello!!

For September's stitching choice I dived into my rather large WIP basket and pulled out a Lizzie Kate design - "Tiny Tidings XV - Feelin' Festive".

I still have to do the "final" ornie finish on this one but the stitching is finished so I think it ticks the box as a finish!!

"Feelin' Festive - Tiny Tidings XV" Chart Pack
Designer: Lizzie Kate
While there isn't a tree in this design... there are presents!  I love the simplicity of the Lizzie Kate designs... no (or minimal) backstitch...  The fabric that I stitched it on has gold flecks through out which just adds to the festive feeling!

Before I go, I just want to say that there have been some lovely designs stitched (and shown on the blog) over the last couple of months, and I am really looking forward to seeing more as the months count down to Christmas!  Thanks Kaye for setting up this blog... :o)

See you all next month....

Til then, happy Christmas Stitching!
Hugs xx

Carmie's August post.... UPDATED!

Hi everyone, Carmie has asked me to post a progress pic on her behalf as she is in the process of entering the exciting new world of owning a tablet and hopes to be able to post pics herself soon.

It is a PS Santa, not sure which year - 2006

Great finish, Carmie.

My September start and September's prize....

... oh dear, as I have been a little busy (setting up another new SAL blog plus work has been horrendously busy), it has taken me a little bit of time to decide upon a design to stitch for this month.  I couldn't make up my mind between a tree or presents, so I was happy when I found a design which incorporated both!  (and a Santa and a snowman!)

(Updated: I was asked what my new SAL blog is, it is Kitten Stitching and the Friday Frolics and you can read all about it here - it should be a fun new SAL so come along and Frolic, if you dare!)

"Wee Santa 2015" by Heart in Hand designs... and here is Furio's "hand" holding it out to you...

... not a lot of progress on it this weekend, I am afraid (I did only decide upon it late yesterday afternoon), as I ended up frogging that pink Christmas tree, twice!  Oh, how I hate it when the Frog Prince visits me!

So, hoping to work on it some more during the week,

This design is the prize for September.  To win, all you need to do is post a finish by September 30th.

(And no, Furio does not come as part of the prize - lol!)

Have a great week, everyone,
hugs,

Cheryl's September Tree Ornament

I stitched this sweet little tree from a free pattern.  Sadly, the designers name was not attached to the pattern & when I went back to where I printed it - the page was gone.  So, if anyone recognizes it ... let me know and I will add the info.

The ornament is backed with a green and gold fabric.  I added gold beads and a gold wired ribbon bow to finish.

I have made a start

I have made a start but it is so little. I saw this photo and tracked back to a JBW Design.
When I started I just found some cloth and don't know the size/scale. I thought it would be cute for a needle case for a Xmas gift.
When I started stitching it showed up really well. The word JOY is clear.

Serendipitous Jo's September Ornie

I've focused on the Tree part of the theme this month.  This is the second design I've stitched from this series of four by Blue Ribbon Designs.  I changed the fabric to a 32 count Twilight Blue linen and the white to B5200 because it really pops against the blue fabric.

Roaming Reindeer by BRD

Companion piece - Woodsy Winter from JCS Ornie Preview 2012

I love the bright red of the cardinals.  Before I discoved blogging I did not realise these birds were actually that bright in real life!  I thought it was a little artistic license on the designers' part.

Christmas Tree Progress

Hello my friends.
My `Christmas Tree` progress.
Not much more to do then work out a finish.
A stitching weekend for me as Hubby is helping
at `Spring Camp` for the youth group.

JBW Design `Sampler Tree 111`

Love these alphabet designs.
Only a few presents and the birds to stitch ,
then the lovely stars that came with the pattern.
Happy Stitching,
Clare.
I have spent a lovely evening stitching my Christmas tree for September's topic.  I am burning a Yankee Candle and having a hot chocolate.  I haven't posted a picture as at the moment there isn't a lot to show.  Maybe I will post one at the weekend.  Happy stitching.  Joan at www.aviewtothefells.com

August Santa

Hello All -
I am finally getting to post my August finish, a Santa from Prairie Schooler.  I have been so busy I have barely had a minute to post or visit the internet.  It could also be too much on-line playing Pokemon with my kids.

Enjoy!!

Tiny Bit

I'm up to my ears in boxes and " what am I going to do with this?", but I did manage to sneak in a couple of very short stitching sessions. Here's what I got done.

I'm sticking to the same set of patterns 'cause it was just too tricky to go rooting for floss.

September & Christmas presents

Hello!

I had planned to stitch this months ornament at the weekend during IHSW but I couldn't resist starting him...and then finishing him!

He is the 3rd in the joan Elliot Roly-polies set and with the theme being tree/presents he falls into the present category nicely.

So...here he is!

and here he is with the other two...

I am looking forward to next month and the angel!

My sparkly Christmas tree!

Hello Xmas SALers!

The theme for this month caused me some trouble. Although I absolutely love Christmas trees and Xmas gifts, I couldn't find a single chart that I fancied stitching. I even considered giving this month's theme a miss - can you imagine?!! Thankfully, in the end I found a little leaflet of charts from The World of Cross Stitching magazine, and in it was a simple design of a Xmas tree using a few cross stitches and some blackwork. What makes the design special is the fact that the whole tree is stitched with metallics:)

In the original chart gold and red metallic threads were used, but since I didn't have any suitable gold threads I decided to switch the gold for green metallics instead. I hoped it would work since the Xmas tree normally is green anyway lol.

Today I made a start:

Since it is stitched with DMC metallics it is quite a slow process. I can only stitch with short threads so it's lots of starts and stops... However, I am quite pleased with my process and it actually looks quite nice and sparkly:) Most of all, I am very pleased that I, at last, found an ornament to stitch for this month!

Have fun with all your Xmas ornaments!

Annie

September's Choice

I was waiting for my pattern to arrive and yesterday Mr Postman popped it through my letterbox.

Yes I know it's Lizzie Kate again but I really like her designs.
Here's how much I managed to get stitched before everyone got up this morning.
I've done quite a bit more now but I'll leave that for another day.

Happy stitching

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

Merry early Christmas my fellow Christmas Ornie SALers,

Wow! What a wonderful month of finishes we have had for our inaugural month of Christmas Ornament SALing.  Around twenty-four or so wonderful ornaments were finished by twenty-two stitchers in August.

Well done, everyone, and as promised, I have done a random draw to choose a winner of this great pattern from my stash:
A Christmas design called "Encore une et J'arrete!"  ("One more and I'll stop) by La Sylphide Toquee

So, drumroll please......

and the winner is the lovely

RITA

Rita, if you email me with your snailmail address, this pattern will be winging its way to you soon.

Now, to have a think about what I might give away for September - something nice, I am sure - so get those needles flying for your September Tree or Present design.

Congratulations Rita and hugs to you all,

need a little help

While going through mags etc to find charts for this SAL I ran across Stitcher's World Jan 2002. While in a store I saw it on the shelf and wanted to do the stocking on the cover. Since I was in a hurry I didn't check to see if the chart was inside. Only the finishing directions were in that issue. The charts had been in the Nov and Dec issues. I've been hunting these since then. If anyone runs across these in their stash an would be willing to sell them please let me know.
I finished my Santa a day late. Starting on my tree this week -end! Thanks for any help you can give me :)
