I nearly made it on time!

Hi lovelies,
Here is my January Christmas Ornie (yes, I know dear Jo, it is another possibly-too-big-to-be-an-Ornie finish - lol!), but I just loved this design when I saw it:

Deck the Halls by Prairie Schooler, Book #81
32 ct Willow Linen, DMC threads.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I have made at least two errors (😂). I wonder if you can spot them?

Uh oh!  Big Ooops! The lovely Carol has pointed out a third error - I forgot Santa's belt!  See the photos below for the finally finished version! Thanks, Carol!

Hugs, Kaye

P.S. Everyone has been lovely and said that they can't see the errors but there are two - top right corner and bottom right corner.

Jingle bell!

Hello everyone!

Here's my Christmas ornament for January (minus the finishing touches).

The chart is from an old Cross Stitch Crazy magazine (issue 170) and is designed by Lesley Teare. I really enjoyed adding the black backstitch since it really made the design pop! Luckily there are a few more charts like this one in the magazine that fit this year's themes, so they might be my go-to charts:)

See you next month:)

Last day

Hello my friends.
I  completed stitching my ornament a few days ago.
Today I sorted template to finish on the last day of the month.

My design is
`Singing Reindeer`
a freebie from www.gittas.com
DMCs 310 & 3371
then I used threads from out of my draws of threads.
DMC 815 instead of Anchor 47
DMC v115 instead of Anchor 1005
DMC 167 instead of Appleton 986 fawn brown
DMC E 815 instead of metallic red.

A little bell added and now this has been put
in Christmas box.
Happy Stitching,
Clare.

I have started.

I have managed to make a start on my music theme for January. I want to try and finish it over this weekend.
It's a cute carols singer..

Rita's Feb 2016 Snow ornament

I chose to stitch Snowman's Quaker Christmas by my friend Marianne of Midnight Stitching.  It was a freebie a few years ago that I found in a Heart's Desire newsletter online but it's no longer there.  I kept meaning to stitch it but never got around to it...until now.

Several people have been asking how to get it so I talked to Marianne and she will soon have it available on her blog:

Without further ado, here's my version:

Cheryl's January Music Themed Ornament

This month I stitched "Holiday Horn" from the book "100 Cross-Stitch Christmas Ornaments" by Carol Siegel.

I finished this as a padded flat ornament, and I had planned on wrapping the edge with a beaded trim.  Well... I finished the stitching about 3 weeks ago and have yet to locate the beaded trim.  sigh.

Hopefully it will turn up and I can "finish finishing" my ornament.

Happy Stitching!

Away in a Manger

This was my second choice for the music theme; the first one ended up in the garbage.  I don't know whether it was the fabric or the pattern, but it seemed like I was frogging more than I was stitching and I definitely wasn't enjoying it.

When I was refiling the chart, I found this one that worked out much better.  It's "Away in a Manger" from an old Quick and Easy Cross Stitch magazine.  It's not finished finished yet, but it will probably be my granddaughter's ornament this year since this was the first Christmas song she learned.

FA LA LA!

My choice for the this month's theme is   complimentary chart from Plum Pudding Needleart that I wanted to stitch for ages.   It is called Fa La La!

I really enjoy stitching Christmas ornaments and I am so glad to be part of this group. I am also looking forward to see what everyone stitches.

Take care and happy stitching!!!!

Rita's January 2016 Music Ornament

I chose to stitch the piper from Prairie Schooler's 12 Days of Christmas.  While I was stitching it, I thought I should stitch all 12 this year...at first I thought for my tree and then I thought they'd look nice in a little cubby I bought from Pottery Barn.  Sigh...one project often leads to more.

Sorry that the picture quality isn't that great but here he is:

Serendipitous Jo's January Ornament - Music

I have decided to stitch the Christmas Cubes by Primitive Hare as my Christmas project this year.  I looked at the themes which Kaye had chosen for this year and all but two are covered by the Cubes.  Perfect!  It does mean that I will stitch the letters out of order but I can cope with that.

Here is Cube One - C:

I'm stitching them on a lovely 35 count linen called Country Mocha by Willow Fabrics using the recommended DMC.  I have changed the white to B5200 rather than Blanc because it will pop more against the neutral fabric.  I also changed the words to 814 instead of Black because it's Christmas. not Hallowe'en!

Musical Snowman

Thank you very much for adding me to the group!
I just love Christmas cross stitch designs and stitching up ornaments is a lot of fun.

My ornament for January is from Cross Stitch Favourites magazine...
He is one of the "musical snowmen" designs.

stitched on 14ct. white Aida
Stitch Time: 7 hours 45 minutes
(I did cheat a little, by not using french knots for his eyes.  French knots are my nemesis.)

Not sure how I am going to finish-finish him yet, but I'm hoping to have him hanging on our tree next year.

Joy to the World

Hello!
Firstly I just wanted to say thank you for letting me join you all on this wonderful blog!  I have really enjoyed following along with all the beautiful ornaments you all have stitched.

So a little introduction, my name is Khristine and I am from Prince Edward Island Canada.  I have a wonderful boyfriend of 15 years and we have 2 awesome boys, 6 and 2.  Right now I am a stay-at-home mom so I get to enjoy stitching pretty much all day and I am not looking forward to going back to work in a couple years but I will worry about that when the time comes.

I was so excited for my first ornament that I couldn't wait and stitched it in December :)

It is a freebie from La Comtesse & Le Point De Croix.  The fabric was dyed by me as was the red thread.  The green thread is Moss by Fiberlicious.  I think I overdid it with the wild hand dyed fabric but it is starting to grow on me.  But I promise from now on my ornaments won't be so busy.

I am not sure if I should just leave the ornament like this or add some red felt behind it.  This was all I had left of this color but if I did add felt I think I would use this shade of red.

.

Happy Stitching,
Khristine

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had an enjoyable, safe celebration last night.

I've gotten no stitching done over the last few days, but I'm excited about our new starts for 2016.

Happy choosing and happy stitching everyone!
