Not Quite Caught Up

Well, I had hoped to have August and September done by this month end, but haven't quite made it. August is finished

and September is about half stitched. Maybe if I hustle for the rest of the day?

And I did it! Dragon 9 got finished with about 5 1/2 hours to spare. Terrible fabric colour - the picture of #8 is much better.

Hopefully Dragon 10 won't be such a last minute stitch.

Just Under The Wire!

He's done in August, by the skin of my teeth!

September's chart was already picked, but I may change it to one in this series so I don't have to pull different floss or go hunting for more fabric.

Not sure how active I will be in September. No matter what, I have to be packed and out of here by the 30th and I still don't have a place. Have two apartments to look at on Wednesday, so please cross your fingers.

Cheryl's August Santa Ornament

Ho! Ho! Ho!  My little Santa ornament is stitched from a freebie pattern that you can find here: http://www008.upp.so-net.ne.jp/gera/freecharts/freechartindex.htm

I backed him with a somewhat plain red fabric and added the button and "dangly bit" (not meant to be rude - but I'm not sure what it is called).

Hope you like him!

Santa #2....

..... American Santa, I am cross posting him with the Americana SAL blog, as well - tricky  of me, hey?  (... and of, course, he is going to turn up on my blog, Kitten Stitching, as well for the Smalls SAL - double tricky!

This is a freebie from I don't know where stitched on what I think is 32 ct white linen using a variety of speciality threads, colours chosen by me.

I am quite pleased with him - he is going to make a cute ornie.

I am so thrilled that you are all enjoying this SAL - some beautiful stitching and designs have been posted so far.  Thank you for wanting to play with me, lovely stitchers.

Now, don't forget, only a couple more days to post an ornie for August and if you do post, check out this post to see what this month's prize is.....

Aussie Santa Claus - August Ornie

Merry August Christmas!!

Before I post my August "Santa" picture, I just want to say thank you to Kaye for setting up the blog... this is going to be such fun being a part of a blog just for Christmas stitching all year round!!  My Christmas Tree will be loving all it's new decorations in December!

Ok... onto my Santa!  As I mentioned in my blog title I have stitched an "Aussie" Santa for this month's ornament.  I searched my chart and magazine stash for ages trying to find the right one and then all of a sudden I found this one in a pile of designs that I had put aside for filing (one day)....

So here he is.... Aussie Santa and friends!

This design was published in the Cross Stitch Crazy magazine issue #171 and is designed by Jenny Barton.  He was part of Jenny's "Santa's of the World" feature in that issue and I just couldn't resist him.

I have stitched him on plastic canvas and backed him with felt which I need to trim and finally finish once the glue has well and truly stuck!

Now I  have to start the process all over again to find next month's masterpiece!!

Til then, happy Christmas Stitching!
Hugs xx

August Ornament Complete

When searching for an ornament to do for August, I looked in a bunch of magazines and found several, but couldn't choose just one.  Then I decided to just look in my stash instead where I found quite a few for this month's theme.

I finally chose Santa Noel from the Mill Hill Charmed Santa Faces -  Series II.  This is a very old kit that's been in my stash for years.  I'm glad I finally found a reason to stitch it.

The reason I'd put if off for so long is that it looked difficult, but it was actually easy.  I have a couple more in my stash so I may have to stitch them too.

Mr and Mrs Santa...

Well, I thought that as I had picked both Mr and/or Mrs Santa as August's theme, that I had better make sure that I stitched them both.  So without further ado, here is the Happy Christmas couple:

It is quite a large ornie, almost as big as my kindle! lol!

The design is part of a larger Christmas design called "Encore une et J'arrete!" (Once I stopped Update:  As pointed out by the wonderful Jo and her GCSE French - and later verified by one of my French colleagues - the title translates as "One more and I'll stop") by La Sylphide Toquee (part of the stash I bought cheap from The ThreadBasket before Valerie closed her online shop down).

This pattern is what I am offering as a prize for August. After August 31, I will randomly choose a winner from all of the finished ornies that are posted this month (excluding my own, of course) to win this very cute design.

I must admit that I am so thrilled that everyone seems to be having so much fun with this SAL.  Thank you to all of the enthusiastic stitchers and bloggers.

hugs,
