Mary's Snowy Scene

Here's my April Snowy Scene! It is "First Snow," a freebie from The Drawn Thread (available on their website). I stitched it on 32 ct. Smokey Pearl using various threads in my stash-most importantly Sable by GAST for the tree and Forest Glade also GAST for the pine needles. (I wish the color of the linen showed up better in the photo-it is a gray blue-very good for the design I think). Thanks for all your comments on my previous posts! I really appreciate it!

It's April

Four Calling Birds

I am really starting to enjoy stitching this.  I can't believe in all the years I have been stitching I have never stitched a project about the Twelve Days of Christmas.

Serendipitous Jo's April's Four Calling Birds

I'm following the 12 Days theme using Joan Elliott's 12 Days of Christmas design.  Here is the Fourth block:

Because there is a lot of dense stitching in this design, I have made a small change.  All the backgrounds are stitched with just one strand instead of two.  It is most obvious on the full coverage parts like the Angels and the Pear Tree but you can see that it works well here.

I also decided to make the berries as over one stitches instead of French Knots.  I tried the knots on the Second Day and didn't like them so I unpicked them and redid them as tiny crosses.  Much neater and just as effective.

Here's where the piece was last month:

And here's where we are now:

I finally completed all the red outer border and have stitched the double metallic rows on the top.  Now I'm going to start on the holly vine inside the top border.  Just for a change from straight lines!

Janurary - Christmas Tree

Hello!  Just me again.

I finished my Janurary "ornament".  I decided for this year I will stitch ABC Christmas by LizzieKate instead of individual ornaments because... well... you all seen how that worked out for me last year.  Haha!  Actually I shouldn't complain, I kept up with them all year until that last month.

Hopefully talk to you all again soon!

Blast from the past

Hello everyone!

Long time, no posting.

I have been stitching though.  And I really underestimated how long it would take me to stitch this sweet little design.  I also decided in November that I was going to stitch 2 fairly large projects for Christmas gifts so everything else got put on hold.  But finally yesterday I finished my December 2016 ornament.  It is The Gift by Blackberry Lane Designs from the 2011 Just Cross Stitch Ornament Issue.

I will now get to stitching on this years project.  Hopefully I can catch up!

Late again! 12 Days of Christmas - Day 3

12 Days of Christmas - Plum Street Samplers
Free design - link to the Plum Street Samplers "Grand Finale" blog post is here

Sorry it would appear that yet again I late posting my 12 Days of Christmas finish.... March, aka Day 3, is done and I have started on Day 4 so hopefully I will be posting during April with a Day 4 finish and not leave it til May!!

12 Days of Christmas - Plum Street Samplers
Fabric: 28ct Jobelan "Gold Digger" - Colour Cascade Fabrics
Threads: Jodryi Designs (Wuthering Heights, Sense & Sensibility, The Olde Curiousity Shoppe, Midnight Hour)
Because I am using my own colour palette I am not really following the chart's suggested thread placement - I am just going with the flow when I stitch on each block.  The colour that I used for the lettering doesn't really show up on the photo but in real life it is gorgeous (it is the same colour as the third bird just to give you an idea of how different it can look depending on the stitch pattern)

Thank you all for the lovely comments you have left on my previous posts - it's great to see that the colour changes work for you all as well :o)

So that's it for Day 3... see you again soon with Day 4
Happy Stitching xx

Okay, I am all caught up and then some!

Hello Jolly Christmas Elves,

I have been a bit behind on all my Twelve Days stitching but now I am all caught up and even ahead!  Yay!

I have finished Day Three: Three French Hens for March.

Day Four: Four Calling Birds for April

... and Day Five: Five Gold rings for May (although to be fair, this block was finished in January for a FB challenge).

And here is the whole piece so far - lots of border to keep me busy over the next few months until it is time to finish Six Geese-a-laying for June.

So, feeling pretty chuffed with myself at this particular moment.

hugs, Kaye

A Day Late

but March is done.

Not the best photo, sorry. On to dragonlet #4 and I'll include a picture of the whole piece next time. Lots and lots of catching up to do.

Three French Hens

And next up 4 Calling Birds.  These little itty bitty blocks are taking way longer than expected.  But I am happy with the results.
