Having fun with my PS Santa!

Hello Xmas SALers!

Today I received the threads I was waiting for, and I couldn't wait to continue stitching my PS Santa!

This is how far I got today! I had so much fun stitching the red Santa Suit and I am really pleased with how it is coming along:) Although it doesn't look like it in this picture, the white threads are actually much more visible now against the grey aida. But then the grey aida is actually much darker than what it looks like in this picture... Next time I'll try to take a picture of my stitching that actually looks like my stitching...ha ha ha!

Have fun stitching all your gorgeous Santas!

A slow start to August

It's surprising how different one month can be to the next. Last month I was stitching away like crazy on my first HAED and making steady progress, had began my nieces Frozen piece for her birthday AND...yes there is more...stitched a Christmas Ornament to test out how long each would take me once the SAL began and also to see how I felt about working on plastic canvas.

This month...I am behind on the Frozen piece, will probably not get a chance to do anymore to the HAED and will need to make a concerted effort to finish the ornament. All I can say is how grateful I am for IHSW!

From now until Christmas I will be stitching a set of six (five left to do) Joan Elliott designs...

which were taken from this book of hers...

I checked out all the suggested themes and there is one for each except maybe Mrs Christmas and so she was the test stitch...I think she came out pretty well and I only made a few tweaks.

My plan is to stitch the ornament during IHSW every month in order to ensure it gets done, as that is something I rarely miss when my mojo is about, well I better leave you all to your stitchy duties and get on with mine!  :)

I can't wait to see your finishes.

I will be stitching PS Santa 2006. It's perfect for me as I love to sew and he's standing by a sewing machine! Sorry I don't  have a picture for you. have a great time stitching everyone!

Rita's August Ornament

First of all, thank you for allowing me to be a part of this group.  I've enjoyed our sister Halloween ornie group so I'm sure this one will be fun too.

It's exciting to see everyone's choices for this month.  I see a lot of Prairie Schoolers and, since I have PS on the brain since the announcement of their upcoming retirement, I chose a PS Santa for my ornie this month...It's from Book 48 A Christmas Visit.

It's really hot here in SE Texas (flirting or making 100 degrees F for the past couple of weeks) so it feels a little strange stitching with the AC humming along.

Most likely, I'll stitch them and wait until I've stitched several before "finishing".  (Also my strategy since I'm "finishing impaired".)

My Choices

Well, everything is gathered for my start, but I won't actually get any stitches in until I finish the small I'm working on for an exchange.

But, here is fabric, floss and a bit of the pattern.

No, I really won't be using ALL those colours, but the key was for the set (11 patterns) and it was easier to pull them all rather than try and figure out which symbols/colours were for this particular chart.

My bumpy start...

Hello Xmas SALers,

Today I made a start on The Prairie Schooler ornament for August.
To remind you, this is what it will - hopefully - look like...

...when it it is finished.

The start could have been a little smoother, I must admit! Firstly I realised that most of my coloured aida wasn't 14-count, but 11-count! Big setback, which meant that I had to settle for either marbled light blue or light grey aida. In the end I chose the light grey. Secondly, I realised that when I ordered new threads last time, I forgot to order the missing threads for this project. So annoying! Still, I had five colours to start with so far, so this is where I got to today:

I'm not entirely happy with today's progress... The white seems to fade a bit into the grey fabric, but I hope that when I can add the other colours (after I have found more money to order more threads) it will look better. Also I am thinking of using either white beads or metallics for the snowflakes which should make the white of the design stand out a bit more, don't you think??

But despite the hiccups of today, it was great fun to begin this Xmas project and I am soo much looking forward to doing this SAL with all of you!

Ho ho ho!
