Satsuma Street Two Turtledoves
My February ornament is the second in the Satsuma Street 12 Days of Christmas series - Two Turtledoves. I'm doing each of these on one of the DMC Bright Ideas 14ct Aida fabrics (as well as white), so there with be 3 each of four different colors.

I actually made a pretty significant mistake with this one that led to a lot of frogging - and then just when I thought I'd got it all fixed, I realized the tailfeathers were still wrong, and just decided to work around it rather than frog out all the surrounding stitches yet again. So that tail is a bit fuller and hiding some of the post they're sitting on. The flowers are also slightly different, but that was on purpose - the darker petals are pointed rathr than rounded, so that they stand out a bit more.
In spite of the difficulties I had with this one, I am so enjoying the series!
Mary's Mill Hill Harp
Friends, I had to give up temporarily on my gorgeous Turtle Doves. And so I present my back up choice, Harp from Mill Hill's musical instrument series. I only have the drum and violin left to complete in this set (I plan to do the drum for December!) This is such a pretty series!
So, about Turtle Doves. For one thing, I bit off more than I could chew in a short month! For another, the linen I picked was too light for the doves to stand out. I have done this several times now on various projects, picking linen that is too light in color for the image to show up! Argh! But I had already done a bit of the stitching that I am happy with, the words and flowers, and I do love the linen. So I found a darker gray for the doves and I will pick it out and go with the darker doves on the lighter linen. But I can't do it right now! Anyway-see what I mean about the dove being too light?
Next month I will do something manageable! I didn't think I had anything for the lights theme but then look! I do! I LOVE Mill Hill kits! They are so satisfying to stitch!

Gwen: February 2017 Ornament
My ornament this month is from On The Twelfth Day of Christmas from Sue Hillis Designs. Now you may be wondering why I stitched the drum. The chart is stitched as a banner with the countdown starting at end of the song, so the first chart is the drum. I just started there and hope to get to the partridge by November. I will be finishing mine as individual ornaments.

Faith's February Ornament
I FINALLY finished stitching Day 2 from the Margaret Sherry's Twelve Days of Christmas series. I had a few visits from the frog on this one but thankfully he tired of me and moved on.
Thanks for taking a peek at my stitching!

Serendipitous Jo's February Turtles Doves
I have completed the second block of Joan Elliott's 12 Days of Christmas:
It didn't take long at all because so much of it had been done for the 12 Days SAL at Christmas. Here is the whole piece so far:
You can see where I am diligently stitching the gold metallic on either side of the red border. I had used up one of the two skeins provided before I was even half-way done and it was obvious I would need more. I emailed Design Works on Friday 3rd February with a photo of my progress and explaining the need for another skein of metallic thread. They replied within the hour promising to send one. Which arrived on Tuesday 7th February. At first I assumed they had asked a UK stockist to send it, but no, the skein came all the way from the US in just four days, two of which were a weekend! That's good service for you.

Two Turtledoves
And February's Dragonlet is done. This is definitely a record for me.
Terrible picture of the fabric, but I do love the turtle doves.
