My girlfriends, nearing the end of the month and I come with a free choice.
Thank you for your kind words in the comments on the last post. You surely know that such words please and motivate.
My choice is simple. I found it on Pinterest:

July: Free Choice
My ornament for July is Dawn Lewis' 2001 Christmas Ornament.
It's been in my stash for awhile and I finally got it stitched.

July free choice freebie
Hey guys!
For my free choice I chose a Lizzie Kate freebie called Peace Joy Love. It is stitched on a scrap of some sort of linen with threads I dyed myself. I am so excited to have all these stitched ornaments hanging on my tree this year and glad I joined you all on this blog!

A bit wonky but July's ornie is done ....
This was Finish #2 on my Road Trip to Roma stitching - you can read all about my trip to Outback Queensland on my main blog, starting with this post, if you are interested.
I am not overly thrilled with how it has turned out - not the design's fault but mine! I made an error somewhere near the start, didn't pick it up until it was way too late, so had to ditch the idea of a border and create this snow "hill" instead - now it is a bit of an odd shape - may have to make it a bell-shaped ornie, I think, when I Finish Finish it. Although, some other interesting shapes have been suggested to me, as well.

Prairie Schooler Book #150
December
28 ct Ivory linen
Suggested DMC floss
I am so enjoying seeing what everyone else is stitching each month for the various themes. Such beautiful stitching and such a great variety of ideas.

Sorry for being awol
Sorry I've been awol for a while. I've had a great time traveling a lot more than I've ever done starting in March when our first grandchild was born. I've gone to visit her in CA twice already, Ohio to visit my parents with my son who was visiting from Denmark, to San Diego with DH while he was there for a conference, and I just returned from almost 3 weeks in HI visiting my sister, brother, and their families and helping my sister with some summer day care for her 7 and 11 year olds. I've got another trip coming up soon (helping DD with day care when she goes back to work before her day care slot opens up) and maybe another with DH before my wings will be clipped for a while.
Needless to say, my stitching time has been much diminished (although I did teach my niece how to stitch) and I'm very behind on my ornament stitching. I came home to a new model to stitch but hope to get back to ornament stitching as soon as I finish that and stay home long enough.

Serendipitous Jo's July Ornie - Free Choice
I have decided to stitch the Christmas Cubes by Primitive Hare as my Christmas project this year. I looked at the themes which Kaye had chosen for this year and all but two are covered by the Cubes. Perfect! It does mean that I will stitch the letters out of order but I can cope with that.
Here is Cube 5 - A:

This is exactly as charted apart from the substitution of B5200 for Blanc. I wasn't looking forward to the large block of the house, but once I'd done the windows it was actually fairly quick, just filling inbetween the white.
Here are the five so far:
