Suzanne's May Ornaments

Hello everyone! I hope you all are staying safe and healthy. For this month's theme I chose the Just Cross Stitch Magazine. My first ornament is from the July/August 2011 Sneak Peek issue. It's Blue Ribbon Designs Christmas Cottage. I've stitched this on 18ct oatmeal with DMC conversion threads. I've run out of the checked ribbon I used on the previous ornaments so I went with what was in my stash and used a dark green grosgrain with the same jute rope edging.

My second ornament is from the 2011 Christmas Ornament issue and is Blue Ribbon Designs Frosty in the Firs. This is stitched and finished the same as my first ornament.
These are a fun stitch and I wish I had every magazine so I could have a complete set of them. I'm looking forward to everyone's stitching this month. Take care!

May Maynia Ornaments

Hi Everybody!  I hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day today!  I was able to get some stitching done which included one of the challenge pieces for this SAL.  I've been working on two of the themes.

For the first theme I've been working on the 12 Days of Christmas that were published in the Stoney Creek Magazines last year.  I think this one came from the Spring issue.  This is 5 Golden Rings stitched on 28 count white.  I just love this particular series!  Sorry for the dark picture...I'm not sure how that happened...LOL

I'm also working on Theme Three... the ornament for this month was supposed to come from the 2011 issue of JCS Ornament issue.  This is called Winter Squirrel and is by Victoria Sampler.  It's stitched on 28 count Natural over two.  I substituted beads for the buttons they used...I wish I had the buttons, but I think the beads work well too.  I have an antique tart pan that I hope to finish into an ornament with this when I get the chance.  I really enjoyed working on this one!

And that's all that's fit to print.  I hope you all are staying safe and keeping well.  Happy Stitching!

My May ornament

Actually, I have a pic of my finished April ornament as well as my May ornament.  The designer for the 5 Golden Rings is Lesley Grant, and the chart was in the Dec 1995 issue of UK Cross Stitcher magazine.  I based the Calling Birds kookaburras on a small kookaburra  chart by Di Noyce published in a very early Jill Oxton Cross Stitch Australia magazine.

Late April update

I tried so hard to get my April ornament posted before it was May. Didn't happen; but just 1 day late. I went ahead and stitched April AND May's ornament, as I hope to get them all stitched and finished by Thanksgiving. Here is Four Colley Birds and Five Gold Rings by CEC in the 12 Days of Christmas series of leaflets. I think I will run out of this fabric before I am done, so some will be stitched in another color fabric. I loved stitching the little black birds....so cute. Stay home and stay safe everyone.
