Noni's Free Choices!

It's July already.... where is the year going?

Seeing as how this month's theme is a free choice theme... and seeing as how I had a flurry of Christmas starts and finishes in the last couple of days in June, I decided to do a post today instead of waiting for the end of the month... and forgetting!

Here are my July free choice Christmas Ornies....  most of them are free gifts from magazines so very appropriate for free choice month! :o)

Tartan Stocking Decoration
Free gift - UK Cross Stitcher magazine December 1995 issue

Punched Needlepoint Christmas Card
Free gift - UK Needlecraft magazine December 1992

Noel Decoration
Free gift - UK Cross Stitcher magazine Christmas 1996

"Joyful Santa" - Homespun Elegance
Just Cross Stitch - Christmas 2015 issue
"Joyful Santa" - Designer: Homespun Elegance
Stitched on Sugar Cane Crunch (Stitches & Spice) 28ct linen using the called for DMC threads.  I am hoping to finish this one off as flat fold in the next few days.

So that's me done for July's post.... if you're lucky I might be back again by the end of the month with another finish :o)

Til then, happy stitching!
Hugs xx

A little Noel...

Well, Friday afternoon, I came home from the dentist after having my back molar extracted, feeling very sad and sorry for myself!  So, what to do?  I know, take some strong painkillers, cuddle the cat, watch some trashy TV and get started on my Friday Frolics stitching and why not chose something for our June theme (Christmas animal/pets).

So, after a drowsy afternoon and evening - Voila!  Here is a little Noel piece, nearly finished!

and then, with a bit more stitching on Saturday morning - all done!

"Love Letters"
from "Joyeux Noel"
Blackbird Designs
28 ct Mocha Linen
My own choice of overdyed threads (as I had none of the suggested ones  - lol)

I am so very pleased with how this turned out.

Boy it's been a long time....

I started this little stitching back in January. So many things have happened and I find myself stuck in a chair for a few weeks with a fractured ankle. Out comes the X stitching... I finished this and another one. But still needs to be made into something. When I am more mobile..

Oh Christmas tree.
These are patterns from kits I bought many years ago.

June 2016

Thank you for your beautiful words in your comments! I appreciate your friendship!

Voice, my task is completed the June :-)
Abode is decorated, foxes are ready for Christmas!

(Sorry for bad English )

Serendipitous Jo's June Ornament - Yet More Reindeer!

Last month I stitched three of Daffycat's Reindeer and this month I stitched another three (there are nine so far).

You can see the previous three here and this week's three on this post:

Stocking Reindeer

Ribbon Reindeer

Star Reindeer

Here are all six together:

And here's what I made them into:

I mounted each square on some thin card and then whipstitched them into a cube.  I threaded some beads onto a piece of cotton thread to make a hanger and then the other ends of the thread to make some beaded tassels at the bottom of the cube.  Now all we need is Christmas!

Another reindeer and a June ornament

Hello friends,

yes, I stitched another reindeer. It's one that I had always wanted to stitch because he is so funny. And I think my grandson will love him as he is for his advent calendar.

June's ornament is little bird, a little robin. Of course, birds will also be a part of an advent calendar that I make :)

Winter Squirrel

Hello Ornie friends!

This month I chose a small design so I wouldn't be late again :)

This is Winter Squirrel by The Victoria Sampler from the 2011 Just Cross Stitch Christmas issue.  It is stitched on Crystal Wren 28ct Cashel from Picture This Plus that I had leftover from another project and I used DMC.  I am not sure how I am going to finish it yet but I will try to remember to share a picture when I do.

I am looking forward to seeing what animal everyone has chosen!

Noni's Christmas Penguin

Thank you for your lovely comments on my cute reindeer and Santa finish.... I wanted to stitch him as soon as I saw him in the magazine last year and it was a no-brainer to stitch him for May :o)  They are such a cute couple!!

So now here we are in June and I thought I would do a quick post to show you my choice for the Christmas Animals/Pets theme.  I was originally thinking of doing another reindeer but instead I stitched another of my favourites... a Christmas penguin!

This little guy was a freebie in the Cross Stitch Crazy magazine many years ago but I only just managed to get around to stitching him.  Surprise, surprise... I actually made up the card already as well (it is going on a Christmas in July trip that's why it is done already!!)

Now I may (if I get the chance) stitch something else for June... if not, then I will see you in July!

Til next time, happy stitching
